Mr. Ben Akabueze is the Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation. He had served as Special Adviser (Planning) to Mr. President between February 2016 and June 2016.

A distinguished banker, accountant and public finance expert, he holds a first class B.Sc degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and an Advanced Management Programme Certificate from the Lagos Business School. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Fellow Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) and Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administrators (FICA), he had over 23 years experience in Accounting, Consultng and Banking before joining the public sector.

His public sector career began in January 2007 having first been appointed by the then Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and then re-appointed for two terms as Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget under Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN. Ben Akabueze started his career in auditing and consulting at Price Waterhouse and then switched over to banking, starting with Nigerian International Bank (CitiBank Nigeria).

He rose to the apex of the profession as Managing Director/Chief Executive of
NAL Bank Plc (2000-2005) and served as Executive Director, Sterling Bank Plc from January to August 2006. Mr. Ben Akabueze is married and blessed with children.
