Police, Lottery Trust Funds Collaborate To Enhance Development

The Police and Lottery Trust Funds in Nigeria have come together to bring about initiatives that would enhance development for stakeholders.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Lottery Trust Fund, the Executive Secretary of the Police Trust Fund Mr. Mohammed Shaidu stated that there was a need for a strong collaboration and ideas sharing between agencies with a view to help the administration of President Bola Tinubu to succeed. Mr. Shaidu said the President has initiated well-thought out plans and projects for a better Nigeria and the agencies have began some strategic collaborations to help in delivering some the administrations plans.

“I look forward to exchanging incites, learning and working together with the lottery Trust Fund. We can work together in the area of health care and sport, welfare among others. We can explore and deploy our collective experiences and efforts which in turn can lead to even greater positive outcomes that can make life better for our communities and our people.”

The Police Trust Fund ES said the responsibility of managing trust funds comes with huge tasks and expectations which must be met for the general good of the society.

“The responsibilities of managing funds goes beyond the financial aspect but it is also an instrument for societal transformation. In our role in the Police Trust Fund, we have witnessed first hand the profound impact that well managed resources can do in the lives of stakeholders, particularly in the areas of health and welfare. The journey of managing funds requires a clear vision, strategic partnerships and deep commitment to the wellbeing of those that we serve. We have initiatives that directly enhance the quality of lives of police personnel focusing in the areas of health, housing, training, welfare among others.”

Mr. Shaidu stated that the welfare of senior citizens is another area of interest. “We must all work together for our country. We must join hands to fix our system for all of us to be safe and happy. This is the time to start. We are also working to improve the lives of both serving and retired police officers, and to see how we can help them have incentives like decent housing, medicals, decent retirement benefits among others.”

In his response, the Executive Secretary of the Lottery Trust Fund, Mr. Tosin Adeyanju first appreciated Mr. President for providing them the platform to contribute in nation building.

He said there was no better time than now for young people to help the country in their own little way because the future belongs to young people.

He applauded the collaboration between the two agencies. “We must motivate the President and justify the confidence repose on us.”

He said there was no better time than now to join hands together for the benefit of he country.

“We shall whole heartedly partner with you in all areas that impact positively on our people. Over the years, we have made many interventions in the area of health, sport, infrastructure and many others with the Police. We have a policy of focusing to fix and intervene on existing projects that are moribund or not working effectively. We would face such and see them to the completion level effectively.”

Mr. Tosin said the Lottery Trust Fund also intends to focus on rural areas because it touches the lives of people more directly. We are presently doing an assessment of people that truly need genuine intervention across the country. We are particularly looking at people with disabilities in this regard. We are highly interested in such individuals. There are a lot of police officers that are facing such challenges, some on crutches and wheel chairs due to some accidents in the cause of duty. We need to look into such areas and assist appropriately.”

He said his strategy shall focus on projects that add value and are for the common good of the society.

“There is a lot we can do together in terms of sharing ideas and resources. Our agency would deploy resources where the the impact can be felt positively. There is a whole lot we can do together in line with the President’s vision. The President has lots of progressive plans and wants only the best for our country and we shall help him succeed.”
